[Thank you, Silver Fox.]

This version of Stand By Me was recorded by street performers all around the world. It started with a base (not bass) track recorded on the streets of Santa Monica, California, by a street musician named Roger Ridley. In New Orleans, Louisiana, Grandpa Elliott, a blind singer from the French Quarter, added vocals & harmonica and Washboard Chaz added metal percussion. LOVE the washboard..

"The producers took the resulting mix all through Europe, Africa, and South America, adding new tracks with multiple instruments and vocals that were assembled in the final version you are seeing in this video. All done with a simple laptop and some microphones."

This and other songs can be found at on the award-winning documentary, "Playing For Change: Peace Through Music", created by Mark Johnson. Check out the website- they're doing great things through the power of music.

I heart Grandpa Elliot.
